EMAIL GUIDELINES

Em-Broadcast (EMB) has delivered millions of emails and we have developed some basic guidelines for how to construct the content and html of an email layout. Below are some guidelines for the broadcast strategy and the content layout strategy:

BROADCAST STRATEGY:
Develop a "pipeline" of activity (broadcasts) that would be sent over a period of time. It would look something like this:

  • Step One: Determine the progressive regions of the country that would be most amenable to our message.
  • Step Two: Determine the volume of emails, number of recipients and number of campaigns, which the budget will support on a monthly basis.
  • Step Three: Design the content of the campaigns: o Test messages for response-rate: o Survey previous openers on potential topics: o Develop a regular series of emails to establish a continuing contact:
  • Step Four: Appeal to the regular recipients for Support. Try to establish a regular contribution.

CONTENT LAYOUT STRATEGY
As a general practice, in an effort to minimize the automated spam blocking, we use the following guidelines in creating html email campaigns:

  • Create email design using mostly text: Use artwork for pictures and key logos, don't use images to deliver text. If you do, make sure that you have the same "text" appear in the html formatted message.
  • Make the page table-based: Try to use very basic techniques to control the layout of your design. Most email programs understand very limited html.
  • Keep the width to 650 pixels or less: Most recipients don't view their email in full-screen mode. The email appears in a window.
  • Be redundant: If you put a link on an image, make a text version of the same link. Many email programs block images (or the user has to enable their viewing, at least), but they allow linked text.
  • Minimize the message complexity: Don't try to communicate more than a couple of ideas. Complex emails overwhelm recipients. Get right to the point you want to make. If you have another "point" then send it in a separate email.

We will work with you to implement the best strategy for your organization. Please contact us to discuss a proposal.
